One-Stop Breast Clinic
The one-stop breast clinic is designed for women with a breast symptom who want answers quickly. You are seen, examined and imaged in a single visit, with results explained before you leave.
What is it?
A one-stop breast clinic combines consultation, clinical examination and breast imaging (ultrasound and/or mammogram) in one appointment. This means most patients receive their results on the same day.
Why might someone consider it?
- You have found a breast lump or noticed a change
- You want results quickly without waiting for separate appointments
- You have been referred by your GP and want a specialist opinion
- You want the reassurance of seeing a dedicated breast surgeon
What happens during your consultation?
Your visit begins with a detailed history and examination by Miss Dua. Imaging is then arranged, usually on the same day. If a biopsy is needed, this can often be performed during the same visit.
Treatment or surgical process
If a benign result is confirmed, you will be reassured and given guidance on self-examination. If treatment is needed, Miss Dua will explain your options clearly.
Recovery
Most one-stop visits do not require any recovery time. If a biopsy is taken, you may experience mild tenderness for a day or two.
Results
You will leave with a clear understanding of your results and a plan for any next steps.
Risks and considerations
- Some biopsy results take a few days to process
- Occasionally, further imaging may be needed at a separate appointment
