Explant With Uplift
When implants are removed, the breast skin may be loose or sagging. Combining explant surgery with an uplift (mastopexy) removes the implants and reshapes the breast for a natural, lifted appearance.
What is it?
Explant with uplift combines implant removal (with capsulectomy) and a breast uplift (mastopexy). The implants and capsule are removed, excess skin is excised, and the breast tissue is reshaped and lifted.
Why might someone consider it?
- You want your implants removed but are concerned about sagging
- You have loose skin after having implants for many years
- You want a natural, lifted breast after explant
- You want to combine two procedures into one operation
What happens during your consultation?
Miss Dua will examine your breasts and discuss whether an uplift is recommended alongside your explant. She will explain the incision pattern and expected scarring.
Treatment or surgical process
The implants and capsule are removed. Excess skin is then excised and the breast is reshaped and lifted. Miss Dua may also use auto-augmentation to maintain upper pole fullness.
Recovery
Recovery is typically two weeks, with a compression bra worn for six weeks.
Results
The breasts have a natural, lifted appearance without implants.
Scarring
Scarring follows the uplift pattern, typically around the areola with a vertical scar below. Scars fade over 12 to 18 months.
Risks and considerations
- Scarring
- Changes in nipple sensation
- Asymmetry
- Bleeding or infection
Miss Dua's approach
Miss Dua combines her Milan fellowship training in auto-augmentation with uplift techniques to achieve natural results after explant.
Explant With Uplift — frequently asked questions
Do I always need an uplift with explant?
Not always. Some women have enough natural tissue to maintain shape without an uplift. Miss Dua will advise during your consultation.
Can explant with uplift be combined with reduction?
Yes. If you also want smaller breasts, a reduction can be combined with explant and uplift.
